| 1. Guide Rule - no angler participating in the Challenge may accept payment from any other person for providing fishing guide services the day of the Challenge. Guides will be treated just like any other angler and will be able to have up to three persons total in their boat during the Challenge. Guides may receive payment for guide services on all days prior to the tournament without affecting eligibility for the Challenge. This rule shall supersede paragraph 2. Eligibility rule No. 5 and any conflicting rules in the Official 2010 Challenge Rules. | |
| 2. Bank Fishing – anglers may fish from the banks of Weiss Lake so long as they are not violating any local, state, or federal laws or regulations. Trespassing upon private property is a violation of these Rules and will be grounds for disqualification. A landowner may grant permission for anglers to fish from their property. Restrictions on fishing from docks still apply as identified in paragraph 5 Permitted Fishing Areas and Hours Rule No. 6. | |
2010 Official Challenge Rules
By your participation in a Super Slab Series Challenge or event, you agree to comply with the following rules and agree to submit and pass a polygraph test or any other test necessary to verify compliance with these rules in order to qualify for the receipt of any prize. Tests can be given at random at all events. The following rules will be interpreted solely by the Super Slab Series tournament directors. The directors reserve the right to reject any entry they feel is not in the best interest of the Challenges, Super Slab Series, or any of the sponsors of the Super Slab Series. Any announcements made by the tournament director at the mandatory check-in prior to each Challenge will take precedence over the written rules. All decisions of the tournament director are final.
All contestants are encouraged to have a radio in their boat or on their person. All Challenge announcements, including rule changes and semi-hourly updates will be broadcast throughout the day over the official host radio station for that lake.
- Safety: The Following Rules are Mandatory during all tournament hours:
- Front and rear navigational lights must be on at all times during predawn hours as identified by local or state law.
- All contestants must wear a securely fastened US Coast Guard approved life vest while the main engine is running.
- All boats must have an operating kill switch while the main engine is running.
- All boats must be equipped with an operating live well. (An aerator in an ice chest is acceptable).
- Boat owners must have Boating Liability Insurance. Proof of insurance may be asked for at any time.
- No alcoholic beverages allowed during tournament hours.
- Eligibility: All Super Slab Series Challenges are individual competitions and no teams or sharing of fish between persons is permitted.
- Participants under 18 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or adult with written parental permission. Authorized parental permission forms may be obtained by contacting Super Slab Series at AmericanCrappie@gmail.com.
- All local, state, federal and Game & Fish regulations shall apply and must be observed during tournament hours.
- All tournament boats may be inspected by tournament officials at any time.
- If a contestant is disqualified for rules violations, all other contestants in his/her boat will also be ineligible for prizes or awards at that Challenge. The only exception to this rule is for the person or persons that file(s) the written protest, if that person or persons fished from the same boat or on the same dock as the disqualified contestant.
- Anyone who has provided guide service on the tournament lake for pay within the past 90 days of this official tournament date will not be eligible to compete in this tournament. This rule does not apply to previous Challenge winners of the Super Slab Series.
- Each boat may have up to 3 contestants. Each contestant is responsible for their own catch. Contestants must keep their fish divided at all times and there is absolutely no sharing of fish between contestants.
- Only paid contestants are allowed in a boat. Non contestants are not allowed in a paid contestant’s boat at any time during tournament hours.
- Contestants must have a valid fishing license for the tournament lake in their possession, unless exempt by State or Federal laws. A contestant’s license may be asked for at the time of weigh-in.
- Registration and Entry Fee: Entry form with complete entry fee must be received before fishing.
- No refunds or substitution of entry fees allowed.
- Registrations will be accepted online until 72 hours before the Challenge start time. Registrations will also be accepted in person at the Challenge Check-in the day before the Challenge and from 5:00-6:30 a.m. the morning of each Event at the designated host weigh-in location.
- Cash, money order, cashier’s check, and credit card are the only form of payment allowed in the 72 hours prior to the Challenge event.
- Equipment:
- All fishing will be done with a rod and reel with artificial lures or live bait.
- An angler may use no more than three (3) poles at one time during Challenges.
- No more than 2 baits are permitted on each pole at one time.
- If either b or c above exceed local or state laws, then the local and state laws shall apply to the number of poles and baits that are allowed.
- Permitted Fishing Areas and Hours:
- The Official Tournament Lake is off limits from fishing for Contestants beginning at 8:00pm on day prior to the Challenge until the official beginning of the Challenge. If an event exceeds one day, the Tournament Lake is off limits from the stop fishing time each day until the start fishing time the following day.
- Permitted fishing areas are anywhere on tournament waters available to the public and accessible by boat, except areas designated as “off limits” or “no fishing “ by local, state, or federal officials or within 50 yards of a competitor’s boat that was first anchored.
- Contestants cannot fish within the marker buoys or within 100 yards of any weigh-in station.
- Contestants may leave from any launch site, dock, or access point on the official tournament lake.
- No casting until the official start time of the tournament.
- Dock Fishing:
- Anglers may fish from a dock if the angler or the angler’s spouse, angler’s parent(s), angler’s children, or angler’s grandchildren is/are the registered or permitted owner of that dock.
- Anglers are not permitted to fish from any commercial dock, including but not limited to owned or operated by a condominium, association, marina/gas facility, or resort.
- No more than 3 Anglers are permitted to fish from a dock at any one time.
- Each angler’s fish must be kept in a separate live well or container from any other contestants fish.
- Weigh-In, Sportsmanship & Conservation: Participants are expected to show sportsmanship, safety, courtesy, and conservation during all tournament hours, weigh-ins, and awards presentations.
- Use of a professional guide is prohibited during the two weeks (14days) prior to the starting time of the tournament.
- Each contestant is allowed to have 2 fish in their possession at any time during the tournament.
- Fish entered into the semi-hourly contest do not carry over from hour to hour. Only the largest fish per contestant is eligible to win an overall prize.
- Semi hourly weigh-ins:
- Weigh-in time slots will be as follows: 7-9 a.m., 9-11 a.m., 11-1 p.m., and 1-3 p.m.
- Each individual may weigh-in 1 fish per time slot, up to 4 a day.
- A fish may only be weighed once. Once the fish has been weighed-in it becomes property of the tournament committee and will, if possible, be returned live and healthy to the lake.
- No contestant can have more than one (1) fish in a weigh-in bag, and cannot weigh-in more than one fish per each weigh-in period. Tournament weigh-in bags will be provided, but you may use your own.
- Crappie must be alive when they are brought to the weigh-in. No Crappie allowed on ice. Dead fish will not be weighed-in. Ice may be used to cool water in a live well or other container to keep fish alive.
- The lake’s official length limit will be accepted for weigh in on tournament waters. All individual lake rules and laws apply to the tournament.
- All Crappie caught during the tournament hours must be weighed in on the day of the catch.
- Trailering of boats during the Challenges will be allowed.
- Black and White crappie will be eligible to be weighed in.
- No electronic tracking device (implanted microchips) may be used to locate fish for tournament purposes. However, depth finders and graph charts are acceptable. N
- Any artificially or preserved crappie will be disqualified and that contestant will be subject to prosecution under federal law.
- Scales will be open during all tournament hours.
- If a Contestant has not had their fish checked by Super Slab Series and in the designated weigh-in line prior to cut-off time for each semi-hourly time period, the fish will be weighed in the next time period that day if possible.
- Protests:
- All protests must be submitted in writing to a Tournament Director within fifteen (15) minutes of the weigh-in completion.
- All protests must cite the specific rule alleged to be broken.
- Prizes:
- Prizes will be given after the tournament. A Contestant must be present to receive a prize unless the Tournament Director(s) has okayed the absence prior to the ceremony.
- Ties: All ties will be broken by the earliest application entry and payment of entry fee.
- Prizes will be awarded to the top 3 overall big crappie each day.
- Prizes will be awarded to the top 10 big crappie in each semi-hourly time period.
- Prizes will be awarded to the 11th place contestant in each semi-hourly time period if the Contestant has purchased a Challenge T-Shirt for the event and has it present with them as they weigh-in the fish. Only a limited number of T-Shirts will be available for each Challenge.
- Prizes will be awarded to the first Contestant to weigh-in a Crappie weighing exactly 1.00, 1.50, or 2.00 pounds on each Challenge.
- An early entry prize will be drawn at random from all Contestants that registered for the Challenge at least 30 days prior to the Challenge
- Youth Division prizes will be awarded to the largest crappie weigh-in during each semi-hourly time period and to the top 3 overall big crappie in the youth division.
- Tournament director(s) reserve the right to change the payback structure at any time.
- Polygraph: Each contestant agrees by signing the entry form, to submit to polygraph testing.
- Polygraph testing will be given at the Director’s discretion. Anyone who fails or refuses to take the test will be immediately disqualified.
- Anyone fishing in a boat with or on a dock with a Contestant receiving a prize may be subject to polygraph. If the Contestant chosen passes the polygraph test, the prizes earned will be awarded. If the chosen Contestant fails the test, the Contestant that qualified for the prize will be ineligible for any prizes or awards at that Challenge.
- If a written protest is filed, all persons fishing out of the same boat or on the same dock as the person filing the protest or the person whom the protest is filed against can be subject to polygraph.
- If a Contestant is disqualified because of unsportsmanlike conduct, that Contestant shall be banned from all future Super Slab Series Challenges or other events.
- Whether or not a contestant’s conduct will be deemed unsportsmanlike will be determined by a majority decision among the (1) Tournament Director, (2) person submitting the written protest, and (3) the person whom the protest was filed against.
- Additionally, any Contestant that was in a boat with or on a dock with the Contestant, upon request of Super Slab Series, LLC, must submit to and pass a POLYGRAPH TEST and/or any other test deemed necessary to determine compliance of the Contestant qualifying for a prize with tournament rules.
- The test will be given only once, and no contestant will be eligible for a second test under any circumstances.
- The decision of the test examiner as to the contestant’s compliance with the tournament rules will be the final decision as to eligibility for any prize.
- Contestants agree to release Super Slab Series, its directors, agent, employees and all sponsors of these events from any liability arising from the administration of the test and/or the decision of the test examiner.
- Interpretation: Interpretation of these rules will be left exclusively to the tournament officials.
- Decisions of the tournament director are final in all matters and are not subject to appeal.
- Contestants agree to release Super Slab Series, its staff and all sponsors from any liability arising from the administration of the test and/or the decision of the test examiner.
- All decisions regarding compliance with these rules and the interpretation of these rules will be made by the tournament director which reserves the right to make additional reasonable rules for the conduct of its tournaments if circumstances require.
- Legal Concerns: The tournament sponsors, officers, employees, etc. will not be responsible for boating or water accidents. Each tournament contestant will be solely responsible for his/her actions with regard to inclement weather or any other potentially dangerous situation which may arise.
- The contestant assumes the risk of any and all damages or injury of any nature which may result from any source during the tournament. Should any contestant be a minor, a parent/guardian shall grant such release on the part of the minor.
- Participants in the Super Slab Series events agree to release Super Slab Series, LLC and its sponsors from any obligation for using names and photo likeliness in promotional materials and/or video productions.
- The tournament directors have the right to cancel the tournament for any reason. If a tournament is canceled by tournament directors, a refund will be given to each contestant within 30 days of cancelation.
- Tournament directors reserve the right to postpone the date of a tournament rescheduled due to reasons beyond our control.
- If any legal actions are sought to enforce or dispute any rules, regulations, or actions of Super Slab Series, LLC, the suit must be filed in the County and State of the registered office of Super Slab Series, LLC.
- If Super Slab Series prevails in any litigation or other legal action to enforce these rules, Super Slab Series, LLC shall be entitled to recover all fees, costs, or expenses incurred, including reasonable attorney fees.
- Super Slab Series does not discriminate for reasons of race, creed, color, national origin.
- Individual Rules of Challenge Lakes: Each lake on which a Challenge will be held may have additional rules, regulations, restrictions, or permitted manners of fishing that will apply to that Lake ONLY. If any such special rules will apply to a Challenge, they will be posted on the rules page of the Super Slab Series website not less than 30 days prior to the Challenge.
